June Edition

Issue #6

Hello everybun~ Summer is approaching and it’s finally going to be time for summer break! This season is such a great time to go visit the beach to cool off or even go travel away from home~ There’s also of fun events to look forward to such as county fairs, night markets, music festivals, cultural events, etc. Oh how I wish to attend everything all at once. As much as we have fun going out during this time of the year, please don’t forget to wear sunscreen and stay hydrated because it’s going to be HOT. Summers for the past few years have been getting much hotter, arriving earlier, and sticking around longer than before (if you haven’t noticed) due to climate change.

Heat waves have been becoming more frequent and it’s best to take safety measures to prevent heat stroke, dehydration, and all that bad stuff >.< I know sometimes some of us are bad at drinking water, but please PLEASE drink water as summer approaches. I also cannot stress how important sunscreen is either. Make sure to get a good spf sunscreen to protect your skin from those harmful UV rays friends~ We don’t like sun burns or getting a higher risk of skin cancer! ALSO REMEMBER: even when it’s cloudy outside, it’s still best to put some sunscreen on, especially to all our skincare loving friends out there. PROTECT YOUR FACE SKIN! We can all keep our youth that way hehe.

Butter’s Blueberry Pie Bars

Hello everyman!! Summer is here and it’s been SUPER HOT >.< Please remember to stay hydrated and cool this summer!! I’ve been thinking about what kind of baked goodies to make this summer and I realized that I had bought some blueberries from the store the other day! So I thought, why not make some blueberry pie bites?? Who wants to go through all that work of making a whole pie when these are so much easier?? I want to share the recipe I have with you guys so you can make these at home!

For ingredients, you’re going to need flour, cinnamon, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, sugar, salt, blueberries, melted butter, and lemons. What you’re going to want. In order to make the crust, you’re going to combine the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, lemon zest, and melted butter into a bowl. And guess what? You don’t need a mixer for it!! Just stir everything together until large crumbles are formed with no visible dry parts. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and press down the mixture into it. To make the blueberry filling, combine the blueberries, cornstarch, sugar, and lemon juice in a pot just for a couple minutes until sugar and cornstarch until its dissolved. Pour the blueberry mixture onto the crumble and spirinkle some oats on top to create and extra layer of crunch once you bake it. Bake it for 50 minutes and you HAVE to let it cool down before you cut into it. That’s pretty much all you have to do!! You have yourself yummy bites of blueberry pie! I hope you guys enjoy them as much we did if you decide to make them for yourself!

Kumi’s Summer Anime Must Watch

Hello there everyman. As always, it’s Kumi here bringing you another anime recommendation of the month. I want to talk about Witch Hat Atelier for this month. This anime is still fairly new and ongoing, but it’s already an amazing watch. The story follows a young girl named Coco who has been in love with the concept of witches and their magical abilities and hopes to one day become one herself. She and her mother are at a festival and she comes across a very mysterious merchant who sells her a book and a pen to write spells in. She realizes that even the stepping stones she steps on illuminate as she moves across them and convinces herself she has powers. However, she realizes shortly after that not everyone is capable of being a witch because on the way home, the stones no longer lit up. A few years pass and she does her daily routine of helping around the house with her mother, until one day, a witch names Qifrey comes to visit to discover that her mother ran a small fabric store and takes a look around.

Intrigued by this witch, she decides to test out her book and pen she remembered she had and decided to practice writing spells in the middle of the night. She manages to perfect one spell after many failures, but didn’t realize the capacity of what magic it holds. The ground starts rumbling and crystals start forming around her house, not realizing what she had casted, was a forbidden spell. During all the chaos, Qifrey manages to swoop her away from the danger because he sensed the strange power within the area. As he flies her away to safety, Coco realizes that her mother was inside, but it was unfortunately too late to save her for she became petrified by the crystals that she had conjured. In order to right her wrongs, Coco decides to go on this journey to learn magic as one of Qifrey’s apprentices in order to save her mother. This anime has such excellent storytelling and the amount of admiration I hold for Coco is more than I can even put into words. Despite her being introduced into this new world of magic, she continues to persevere through her hardships. Not only do I enjoy the plot, but the animation itself is PHENOMENAL. Or should I say….magical?(yes yes I crack myself up sometimes ohohoho)

Tomaki’s Coconut and Pineapple Fizz Mocktail

Hey buns! I have another recipe for you guys to try out that’s super delicious for the summer heat! This recipe is super easy to make. All you need is chopped pineapples, coconut water, and sparkling water! I like to try and find pineapple sparkling water to enhance the flavor a little, but if you can’t find any that’s alright!

Anyway, I like to get the canned pineapples because carving out a pineapple is just too much work for me. To assemble the drink, you want to add the canned pineapples along with the juice and pulse it in a blender until it’s nice and blended up. Now you want to take a tall glass and add ice to it. A good 3 or 4 ice cubes should be good~ Next you want to add 30 mL of the pineapple juice, 30mL of coconut water, and 250 mL of the sparkling water into the glass and that’s really it! It’s kind of like a pina colada, just without the alcohol!

Monthly Faves!

Pongo Handheld Fan

Pongo usually runs the warmest amongst the buns, so he’s been using this handheld fan that also has a stand! The stand helps him while he works on his crafts, while he can also just bring it with him when he goes out! I’ts super convenient and really helps him cool down especially during the hottest days~

Butter Cooling Spray

From their recent trip to Japan, Butter brought home these cooling sheets that helps so well during hot weather. It really helps when she wipes it on her arms and legs when there’s wind outside because the breeze really helps the cooling effect. She brings an extra pack for Pongo because he gets hot easily, but never complains about it and Butter has to keep him in check

Purin Mini Fridge

You’re not a true gamer if you don’t have a mini fridge next to your set up. Purin recently bought one because he thought that having easy access to his favorite drinks closer to his gaming set up is easier than going into the kitchen and grabbing something. He fills his fridge with cola, arizona teas, and any other sugary drinks he can fit in there!
